NLU ON THE MOVE

Rendition

Accessibility. Quality. Diversity. Responsiveness to students.
This new conception of National-Louis University’s campus configuration arises out of university-wide discussion and planning efforts. Its objective is to create a strong and unified presence, with a center of gravity in the heart of Chicago and a vital and highly visible profile for the university throughout the Chicago region.

Our physical campuses, in tangible and symbolic ways, reassert the university’s commitment to schools and communities, and help advance our strengths of accessibility, quality, diversity, and responsiveness to students. As this new vision reinforces visibility and access, the new facilities themselves achieve gains and efficiencies that provide significant resources for reinvestment not just in new, improved educational environments, but in faculty, students, and staff, and in academic programs as outlined in the statement of priorities issued by the University Planning Group in March.

We want to provide all our students with learning environments that are
convenient and comparable in technology to today's workplaces.

Members of the university community involved in the planning process have identified the need for cost-effective, student-friendly campuses. They have looked at research on our public profile and see a dichotomy between our well-known strengths in education, our geographic scope, and our virtual anonymity outside of the field of education. The planning process has also given the community a good look at cost and marketing factors associated with the campus facilities we now occupy; in-depth market research has also provided insight into the importance of campus location and facilities in meeting the needs and preferences of today’s students.

Creating the ideal learning environment

The vast majority of our students are adults, juggling career and family. They expect and receive great teaching and quality programs at National-Louis.To match the strength and quality of our instruction and programs, we have a responsibility to provide all of our students with learning environments that are convenient and comparable in technology to their workplaces. This demands that we have buildings that are flexible, equipped with the latest technology and adaptable to new technology. We owe our students the best possible learning environments we as a university can afford.

Committed to preserving and honoring NLU history

National-Louis University’s mission has never been defined by a single physical campus. We have occupied at least 20 different campuses worldwide in our history Harrison housed her school in five different downtown locations near our current downtown campus before her successor, Edna Dean Baker, moved the campus to Evanston. In reconfiguring our physical campuses, we are committed to preserving and honoring National-Louis University’s rich history as we forward our mission in an ever-changing society.
