How to Get Learning Assistance
What is learning assistance?
The Center for Academic Development (CAD) provides one-on-one learning assistance to students who make appointments or contact a learning specialist or tutor. A learning specialist or tutor will communicate with a student who seeks assistance or is referred by an instructor to the CAD. A student may contact the CAD at any stage of the process when writing a paper or having difficulty with assignments.
How does the CAD help students?
- A learning specialist or tutor can offer strategies to help students complete assignments.
- A learning specialist or tutor can help students plan, revise, and rewrite written assignments.
- A learning specialist or tutor can provide individual tutoring to help students further develop their academic skills (writing, reading, critical thinking, and note taking, etc.)
- A learning specialist or tutor does not proofread or edit papers, but offers feedback about drafts to students so that students may revise their drafts and produce better papers.
