CREDIT BY PROFICIENCY
Credit by Proficiency may be pursued by students who believe they possess prior learning in an area for which National-Louis University has an equivalent course. After applicable course(s) have been identified from a current NLU catalog, the student must complete the following steps:
- Obtain an Application for Credit by Proficiency from the Prior Learning Assessment Center (or local representative).
- Complete the top portion of the application, including name, address, phone number(s), social security number, and class group (if applicable).
- Indicate by number and title the NLU course(s) for which credit by proficiency is being requested.
- Indicate the preferred method of assessment.
POLICY: STUDENTS' PREFERENCES ARE CONSIDERED, BUT THE FACULTY ASSESSOR MAKES THE FINAL DECISION AS TO WHICH METHOD IS MOST APPROPRIATE
- Sign and date the application.
- Obtain Registrar's or Program Advisor's signature approving that the credit, if earned, will be applicable to program requirements.
- Attach ALL of the following to the application:
- A brief description (50 - 250 words) outlining the learning experience(s) which relate to the course(s) being considered.
- Supporting documentation. This may include licenses, certificates, products, publications, workshop or seminar attendance records/course descriptions, letters of support, etc.
- After June 30, 2003, a check for $130 per course applied for.
POLICY: FEES ARE REFUNDABLE ONLY IF NO FACULTY ASSESSOR IS AVAILABLE FOR THE COURSE(S) REQUESTED
- Return the application, description, supporting documentation, and check to:
