Stephen L. Thompson, Ph.D. SThompson@nl.edu

Elizabeth A. Peterson, Ed.D. EPeterson@nl.edu

The Gidwitz Center for Urban Policy and Community Development was formed in December, 2002, from a generous grant given by Gerald Gidwitz. The Center includes research associates from all three colleges across the University and, while based in the College of Arts and Sciences, will foster interdisciplinary and inter-college linkages. The Center has convened interested faculty members into a group of research associates with a wide set of interests. These interests include:

  • Health care
  • Economic development
  • Education
  • Crime prevention
  • Community wellness
  • Urban planning
  • Workforce development (including literacy)
  • Applied gerontology
  • Sustainable environment
  • English language and literacy development
